Last night was a difficult night for me and my community. Sr. Jennifer Mechtild, the prioress of our community, has asked me to let you know that Sr. Theresine Will died in the early hours of the morning. Sr. Theresine has been a resident at the Hermitage for the past four years. You might not know this but Sr. Theresine taught Dr. Hurley in kindergarten. She has been on hospice since late January. On Holy Saturday, May 11, she took a turn for the worse and had been declining ever since. While we rejoice that she is now with God, we will miss her presence greatly. Please hold my community, the staff and residents in your prayers as we mourn the loss of Sr. Theresine.
This Indiana weather really makes patio time hard. We keep hoping for gaps in the rain so that the residents can enjoy patio time. Pray that the rain will cooperate with us.
We currently have had no residents ill with COVID 19 and no residents who are symptomatic at this time. Our current COVID 19 status is that we have had no COVID 19 positive residents. We have had eight COVID positive employees. We have 8 tests pending – seven residents and one employee. Four of our staff who are ill are direct care staff on the Health Care Center. Six of the eight staff have recovered and have returned to work. We have had no COVID 19 related hospitalizations or deaths for both employees and residents. Let us pray for the two employees who are still healing.
There is a lot of loss on so many levels at this time in our world. Let us pray for one another as we experience such loss hat this time. May we have the grace we need to make it through this very difficult time. If you have any questions, you can reach me by e-mail at or 317-213-8430.
