Dear Family and Friends,
In a homily that Pope Francis gave yesterday on International Nurses Day, he said of nurses, “You are an image of the Church as a ‘field hospital’ that continues to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ, who drew near to and healed people with all kinds of sickness and who stooped down to wash the feet of his disciples.” I was deeply touched by these words and would extend them to all our staff and those around the world who are doing their best to care for the sick and the elderly. I am so thankful for our staff who, called to serve the elderly, love this ministry, and do all that they can to make each day the best it can be for each resident.
We currently have had no residents ill with COVID 19 and no residents who are symptomatic at this time. Our current COVID 19 status is that we have had no COVID 19 positive residents. We have had eight COVID positive employees. We have 8 tests pending – seven residents and one employee. Four of our staff who are ill are direct care staff on the Health Care Center. Six of the eight staff have recovered and have returned to work. We are so thankful that they have recovered and are back with our community. We have had no COVID 19 related hospitalizations or deaths for both employees and residents. Let us pray the two caregivers who are still recovering.
I am sorry to say that I still have not heard back from the Strike Team. I emailed them on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday and still have not heard back. As soon as I do, I will let you know the day that they will be coming to do the testing.
I hope you had a good day and tomorrow is filled with many blessings. Each day we have is a gift of from God. Let us make the most of each one of them. If you have any questions, you can reach me by e-mail at or 317-213-8430.
