Dear St. Paul Hermitage Families and Friends,
Today began with an anticipated visit from the Indiana State Board of Health (ISDH). They are making daily visits to facilities in Marion County and across our state to meet with Health Facility Administrators to review their COVID 19 policies and procedures. We received very positive feedback on what we have implemented. The Surveyor felt that should we have a positive case here, the plan we have in place is a good one. I am proud of the good work our staff is doing to ensure the safety of our residents.
I did receive word from ISDH that they will be sending out further guidance regarding social distancing during this time when we all are being asked to stay at home. I was instructed that we should begin asking residents to stay in their rooms except for hallway activities. We have asked residents not to walk in the halls. We have stopped having daily Mass because everyone including our priest need to stay in their rooms. Sr. Anna Marie is praying the rosary at 11 am in place of Mass currently. We are helping residents to watch mass on EWTN. I know this is hard, but it is necessary to try and keep everyone healthy. We did have some hall activities today. Our residents had exercise, bingo and a sing along in their doorways. They continue to enjoy these times of connection. We also continue 1:1 visits and video chats with family. Our residents remain healthy.
We have one nurse that woke up this morning with a temperature and respiratory symptoms. She contacted me right away and we are following the appropriate next steps. She has been in contact with her primary care physician. I have contacted Indiana State Board of Health to get her tested. I will continue to update you about the situation as I receive more information. Let us continue to hold our world and each other in prayer. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sr. Heather Jean
